2013 will be a busy year for the staff at MotorSport Vision Racing. This year sees the creation of three new series – the BRDC Formula 4 Championship, the Radical SR1 Cup & the Atom Cup.
The new BRDC Formula 4 Championship has had quite a bit of press already, with the championship being created to provide a low cost entry to single seater racing – with ‘slicks and wings’. This year there will be 24 cars racing in 24 races at 8 race meetings. The cars are designed by Ralph Firman’s RFR company. Alice Powell, who raced for Status GP in GP3 last year moves to Formula 4 for 2013.
The Radical SR1 Cup is aimed at the motorsport beginner. Phil Abbott spoke of the support the series would give to those starting off, mentioning mentoring for taking the National B race license and support in regards to test days with practicing race starts. Olympian Sir Chris Hoy will be driving in the series this year.
British sportscar maker Ariel see their car have their own race series in the form of the Atom Cup for 2013. Based on the standard Atom, running a modified Honda Civic Type-R engine, the Atom Cup’s first race will be at Silverstone on April 27th.
